Project Highlights
- 2007 airborne EM, lake sediment geochemistry, and alpha-track surveys highlighted several anomalies
- 87 grab samples collected with an average of 0.33% U3O8 and a maximum of 2.09% U3O8 in an area over several hundred square metres
- geochemical sampling and detailed mapping will be conducted prior to further drilling
Exploration Work
Croteau Lake is located 18 kilometres southwest of C Zone. Noranda drilled in the Croteau Lake area in the early 1990's, but tested for base metals rather than uranium. Bedrock uranium was discovered there late in 2005 while conducting follow-up ground work on a series of airborne radiometric anomalies. The zone has been mapped on surface for at least 500 metres and the airborne geophysical signature continues for approximately 1.5 kilometres.
In 2005 samples collected from the Croteau Lake area returned assays averaging 0.35% U3O8 as well as significant IOCG type mineralization. Exploration work during the 2006 season produced 17 samples, which returned assays > 0.1% U3O8 to a maximum of 2.087%. The distribution of mineralized samples in combination with mapped outcrop and uranium and magnetic geophysical anomalies suggest that the mineralized horizon has a minimum strike length of 500 metres. In 2007, a small drill program consisting of 785 m in six holes was completed. In addition, a 173 site alpha-track and till geochemical survey was completed, highlighting several additional areas of uranium anomalies.
